International students applying either off-shore or on-shore must meet the minimum requirements to gain admission into UIA’s courses.
Age Requirement: All international students must be at least 18 years of age or above at the time of the course commencement to study at UIA.
Parental Consent: Applicants under 18 years of age at the time of enrolment need to provide evidence of parental or guardian consent.
Pre-Training Review (PTR): All students will be required to undergo a PTR to determine that they understand the course requirements; that the course suits the students’ needs and aspirations; and that they have the skills and abilities to succeed in their chosen course. The review aims at identifying their training needs through questions on previous education or training, relevance of the course to the student and to determine the student’s language, literacy, numeracy and digital competency levels to ensure that UIA can provide appropriate level of teaching and learning support. This review also aims to ascertain the existing levels of skills and knowledge related to the chosen field of studies. The review will also identify possible RPL/credit transfer opportunities and confirm students’ oral communication skills.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test: All students are required to undertake and successfully complete an LLN test conducted by UIA. If students do not meet English and LLN requirements, learners will be asked to take further language, literacy and numeracy training.
